Some teaching tips

Which finger should be used?

Kids can use any finger they like to play the C chord. Typically it is played with the 3rd finger (ring finger), however, the index or middle finger is fine too.

Use the thumb for support

Make sure the child is pressing the back of the ukulele neck with their thumb. This will give them the required amount of force to get the note sounding properly.

How to strum?

Simply strum the ukulele where the chord symbol lines up with the lyric (see each individual song sheet). You can also strum the ukulele for each lyric syllable. At this point, any strumming that lines up with the lyrics is a success. The real challenge will be to get the finger positioned in the right place to get a good chord sound.
