Academic Pedigree

Our pop voice teachers combine formal vocal training from schools like Schulich (McGill), UQAM, Université de Montréal and Vincent-d'Indy with contemporary technique built for modern styles rather than opera.

Many also work as session and touring vocalists, so the advice you get about mics, monitors and stage nerves comes from lived experience.

Local Presence

Pop voice teachers are spread across Montréal, from downtown and the Plateau to Rosemont, NDG and Laval-adjacent neighbourhoods in the north. Lessons run in teaching studios, at your home or online.

Voice lessons translate especially well to video, so many students mix online sessions into their schedule. In-person studios are generally close to métro lines for easy access from anywhere in the city.

Curated Expertise

Pop voice study is contemporary technique first: breath support, mix voice, belting without strain, riffs and stylistic choices that suit your voice rather than imitate someone else's. Vocal health runs through everything, because a pop career is long and unforgiving.

Lessons also cover the practical side of the genre: microphone technique, singing with tracks, recording yourself and preparing covers or original songs for release or performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any hidden fees or subscriptions?

No. The price on a teacher's profile is the full price you pay — no subscriptions, no contact fees. Some teachers who are members of the GMMQ (Quebec Musicians' Guild) include a pension surcharge, but this is always included in the displayed price. You are only charged when a lesson is confirmed by your teacher.

Do you offer in-person lessons near me?

Yes — Musiprof primarily connects you with teachers near you for in-person lessons at home or in studio. Online lessons are also available. Beyond private lessons, we offer a band program and community recitals for a complete musical experience.

What happens after I purchase?

The teacher will contact you within 24–48 hours to schedule your first lesson. If there's no contact within that window, Musiprof follows up on your behalf.

What is the refund policy?

You only pay for lessons taken. We refund untaken lessons minus a small cancellation fee (the lesser of $50 or 10% of the remaining value).

How frequently do lessons unfold?

By default, lessons are designed to be taken once per week to help you maintain consistency and momentum. A 5-lesson package, for example, is intended to be completed in 5 consecutive weeks. However, we understand that every student's goals are unique. If your teacher agrees, lessons can be scheduled at a different frequency (e.g., every 2 weeks or once per month). Please discuss your preferred schedule with your teacher during your first contact. Your package includes a 30-day grace period after your last scheduled session. If you are doing bi-weekly lessons, ask your teacher to extend your session dates in the system to ensure your file remains active.

Is there a Satisfaction Guarantee?

Yes! We want you to find the perfect match. If your first session isn't right, contact us within 48 hours. We'll credit 50% of the lesson cost back to your account so you can try a different teacher immediately.

Why should I pay through Musiprof instead of paying my teacher directly?

Paying through Musiprof is what keeps you protected — the Satisfaction Guarantee, refunds, and dispute support only apply to payments made on the platform. Paying a teacher directly (cash, e-transfer) voids those protections, and we can't help if something goes wrong. If a teacher ever asks you to pay outside Musiprof, please let us know.

Is Musiprof like a music school with semesters?

No. Musiprof has no semesters, terms or registration deadlines. You start with a single first lesson, covered by our Satisfaction Guarantee. After that, you continue at your own pace: buy a package of lessons or pay lesson by lesson. Unused lessons are refundable, and you can switch teachers at any time.

Do I have to buy a package?

No. After your first lesson, you can buy a package (usually a better price per lesson) or pay à la carte, where your card is charged after each completed lesson. Each teacher sets their own prices and lesson formats (in studio, at home or online), so check their profile for the details.

More about singing lessons

Can I learn to belt without damaging my voice?
Yes, and learning it properly is exactly why lessons matter. Safe belting is a coordination of breath, larynx position and mix voice, not raw pushing. Your teacher will build it step by step and teach you to recognize the difference between healthy intensity and strain.
Do lessons cover microphone technique?
Yes. Distance, angle, handling noise and working a mic during loud and soft passages all change how you sound, and pop is a microphone genre. Teachers with stage and studio experience will have you practising on a mic once your fundamentals are steady.
Can my teacher help me with my own original songs?
Absolutely. Many pop voice teachers are writers and session singers who can help with melody choices, keys that flatter your range, phrasing and demo recording. Bring a voice memo of your idea and it becomes lesson material.
What should I do between lessons to keep my voice healthy?
Short daily warm-ups, hydration and honest rest after heavy use go further than long practice marathons. Your teacher will give you a warm-up routine of about ten minutes and specific exercises for your voice, and will teach you the warning signs that mean stop singing today.
