Musiprof is Canada's platform dedicated exclusively to private music lessons. We are not a music school: no semesters, no subscriptions. You start with a single first lesson and continue at your own pace. Here's how it works.

1.Find your teacher

Browse verified teacher profiles, read reviews and compare rates. Every teacher is independent: each sets their own prices, formats (in studio, at your home or online) and schedule, all shown on their profile.

2.Start with a first lesson

Book a single first lesson, no commitment. It is covered by our Satisfaction Guarantee: if it is not the right fit, tell us within 48 hours and we credit 50% of the cost back to your account to try another teacher.

3.Continue your way

Unlike a music school, there are no semesters and no subscriptions. Buy a package of lessons to save, or pay à la carte after each lesson. You set the pace together with your teacher.

4.Only pay for lessons you take

Change of plans? Unused package lessons are refundable (minus a small cancellation fee), and you can switch teachers at any time.

5.Perform when you're ready

Optional but fun: join our community recitals (currently in Montreal, new cities coming soon) or one of our bands when you feel ready to play with others.

Every Musiprof teacher holds post-secondary music training — university, college, or conservatory — and is carefully vetted before being accepted onto the platform.

Transparent pricing

The price on a teacher's profile is the final price — no subscriptions, no contact fees. Surcharges like the GMMQ pension contribution are always included in the listed price.

In-person lessons near you

Musiprof primarily connects you with teachers near you for in-person lessons — at home or in studio. Online lessons are also available.

More than private lessons

Musiprof offers a complete musical experience. Beyond private lessons, join a band or perform at recitals.

Band program

Join a band of musicians at your level. From jazz combos to rock bands, play with others and develop your ensemble skills.

Is Musiprof like a music school with semesters? ▾
No. Musiprof has no semesters, terms or registration deadlines. You start with a single first lesson, covered by our Satisfaction Guarantee. After that, you continue at your own pace: buy a package of lessons or pay lesson by lesson. Unused lessons are refundable, and you can switch teachers at any time.
Do I have to buy a package? ▾
No. After your first lesson, you can buy a package (usually a better price per lesson) or pay à la carte, where your card is charged after each completed lesson. Each teacher sets their own prices and lesson formats (in studio, at home or online), so check their profile for the details.
What happens after I purchase? ▾
The teacher will contact you within 24–48 hours to schedule your first lesson. If there's no contact within that window, Musiprof follows up on your behalf.
How are teachers verified? ▾
All teachers submit proof of formal music education and teaching experience. We verify diplomas, check references, and offer optional police background checks.
Can I switch teachers? ▾
Yes. Unused lesson credits can be transferred to a different teacher at any time. Contact us and we'll help you find a better match.
How frequently do lessons unfold? ▾
By default, lessons are designed to be taken once per week to help you maintain consistency and momentum. A 5-lesson package, for example, is intended to be completed in 5 consecutive weeks. However, we understand that every student's goals are unique. If your teacher agrees, lessons can be scheduled at a different frequency (e.g., every 2 weeks or once per month). Please discuss your preferred schedule with your teacher during your first contact. Your package includes a 30-day grace period after your last scheduled session. If you are doing bi-weekly lessons, ask your teacher to extend your session dates in the system to ensure your file remains active.
Is there a Satisfaction Guarantee? ▾
Yes! We want you to find the perfect match. If your first session isn't right, contact us within 48 hours. We'll credit 50% of the lesson cost back to your account so you can try a different teacher immediately.
Why should I pay through Musiprof instead of paying my teacher directly? ▾
Paying through Musiprof is what keeps you protected — the Satisfaction Guarantee, refunds, and dispute support only apply to payments made on the platform. Paying a teacher directly (cash, e-transfer) voids those protections, and we can't help if something goes wrong. If a teacher ever asks you to pay outside Musiprof, please let us know.
