Claudia N. — Singing Teacher — Mile End, Montreal

Claudia Neff is an American soprano based in Montréal, QC. She has over a decade's worth of stage experience: in operas, musicals, and even some plays. Most recently, she joined Queen City Opera as First Lady in "Superflute", a production of The Magic Flute set in the world of classic video games. Her other performance credits include Noémie in Cendrillon, Isabelle/Madeline in The Face on the Barroom Floor, Adele in Die Fledermaus, La Musica in L'Orfeo, and Johanna in Sweeney Todd. Claudia completed her Master of Music in 2024 at McGill University in Montréal, QC, where she studied with Dominique Labelle and Louise Pelletier. Born and raised in Cincinnati, she holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. A dedicated teacher, Claudia has experience working with students of all ages and levels; as well as a variety of styles. She is passionate about helping each and every student set their own goals and find their unique voice. When she is not singing or teaching, Claudia can be often be found embroidering, artistic rollerskating, cooking, sewing, rock climbing, or playing fetch with her cat, Wren.

Lessons with me are tailored to your specific needs and goals; for example, you may want to audition for a musical, choir, or university voice program, or perhaps you just want to feel more comfortable at karaoke with your friends. In our trial lesson, we will chat about what these goals may look like for you. After we get to know each other, we will do a little singing. In each following lesson, we will work on vocal exercises to help you develop and strengthen your abilities, and apply what we work on to your repertoire. Repertoire will be chosen based on two things: what inspires you, alongside what will serve you best in the technical process of learning. We will focus on breathing, alignment, easy phonation, clear diction, and artistic interpretation; as well as vocal hygiene and healthy practices to keep your voice in good shape at home.
