Academic Pedigree

The piano teachers who serve Westmount trained at the Schulich School of Music at McGill, the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, the Université de Montréal and Vincent-d'Indy. Many teach at the advanced level and prepare students for RCM exams and competitions.

Several combine teaching with performance careers in Montreal's classical and jazz scenes. Every teacher is vetted by Musiprof before meeting a single student.

Local Presence

Most piano teachers travel into Westmount for at-home lessons, which suits the neighbourhood well since the piano is usually already in the living room. Coverage runs from Victoria Village up the hill and across to Greene Avenue.

Teachers reach Westmount easily from downtown and NDG, so weekday after-school slots are realistic. The Atwater and Vendôme métro stations keep travel simple on both ends.

Curated Expertise

Classical training is the backbone here, with structured paths through the RCM levels for children who are serious about the instrument. Jazz and popular styles are available for students who want a different route.

At-home teaching is a specialty in itself, and these teachers know how to build a consistent practice culture in a family home. Many also coach siblings back-to-back in a single visit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any hidden fees or subscriptions?

No. The price on a teacher's profile is the full price you pay — no subscriptions, no contact fees. Some teachers who are members of the GMMQ (Quebec Musicians' Guild) include a pension surcharge, but this is always included in the displayed price. You are only charged when a lesson is confirmed by your teacher.

Do you offer in-person lessons near me?

Yes — Musiprof primarily connects you with teachers near you for in-person lessons at home or in studio. Online lessons are also available. Beyond private lessons, we offer a band program and community recitals for a complete musical experience.

What happens after I purchase?

The teacher will contact you within 24–48 hours to schedule your first lesson. If there's no contact within that window, Musiprof follows up on your behalf.

What is the refund policy?

You only pay for lessons taken. We refund untaken lessons minus a small cancellation fee (the lesser of $50 or 10% of the remaining value).

How frequently do lessons unfold?

By default, lessons are designed to be taken once per week to help you maintain consistency and momentum. A 5-lesson package, for example, is intended to be completed in 5 consecutive weeks. However, we understand that every student's goals are unique. If your teacher agrees, lessons can be scheduled at a different frequency (e.g., every 2 weeks or once per month). Please discuss your preferred schedule with your teacher during your first contact. Your package includes a 30-day grace period after your last scheduled session. If you are doing bi-weekly lessons, ask your teacher to extend your session dates in the system to ensure your file remains active.

Is there a Satisfaction Guarantee?

Yes! We want you to find the perfect match. If your first session isn't right, contact us within 48 hours. We'll credit 50% of the lesson cost back to your account so you can try a different teacher immediately.

Why should I pay through Musiprof instead of paying my teacher directly?

Paying through Musiprof is what keeps you protected — the Satisfaction Guarantee, refunds, and dispute support only apply to payments made on the platform. Paying a teacher directly (cash, e-transfer) voids those protections, and we can't help if something goes wrong. If a teacher ever asks you to pay outside Musiprof, please let us know.

Is Musiprof like a music school with semesters?

No. Musiprof has no semesters, terms or registration deadlines. You start with a single first lesson, covered by our Satisfaction Guarantee. After that, you continue at your own pace: buy a package of lessons or pay lesson by lesson. Unused lessons are refundable, and you can switch teachers at any time.

Do I have to buy a package?

No. After your first lesson, you can buy a package (usually a better price per lesson) or pay à la carte, where your card is charged after each completed lesson. Each teacher sets their own prices and lesson formats (in studio, at home or online), so check their profile for the details.

More about piano lessons

Do we need an acoustic piano at home for lessons in Westmount?
An acoustic piano is ideal, but a full-size digital piano with weighted keys works well for the first years of study. Your teacher can advise before you invest in an upgrade.
Can lessons be in English, French or both?
Yes. Most teachers serving Westmount work comfortably in both languages, and some families ask for lessons partly in French to support school immersion. Just note your preference when booking.
How do lessons fit into a busy school schedule?
Teachers hold a weekly at-home slot, typically after school or early evening, and keep it for the term. Siblings can often be taught back-to-back in one visit, which simplifies the week.
What happens if the teacher isn't the right match?
Tell us and Musiprof will rematch you with another teacher serving Westmount at no charge. Remaining lessons in your package carry over to the new teacher.

The Musiprof Community

Many of our piano instructors in Montreal also coach our Band Program. When you learn with us, you're not just getting a teacher; you're joining a local network of musicians.
