Academic Pedigree

Drum teachers in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie are university- and cégep-trained musicians who play across Montréal's scenes while teaching close to home. Their formal training covers technique, reading and ensemble playing.

Musiprof reviews each teacher's education and playing experience before they take on students, so families here know who is walking through the door.

Local Presence

Many of our drum teachers are based right in the neighbourhood, around métro Beaubien and Rosemont, within reach of Little Italy and Jean-Talon Market. Lessons happen in their home setups or at your place, whichever suits your household.

Short local trips mean flexible scheduling — a lesson can slot in after school or before dinner without anyone crossing the city.

Curated Expertise

Teachers here see a lot of first-time drummers, especially kids, and they are good at it: pacing lessons for short attention spans, building coordination through songs children actually know, and managing volume in family homes.

Adults get the same grounding with faster progression into rock, pop, jazz or whatever style brought them to the kit. Electronic kits are common in the neighbourhood's duplexes and teachers plan practice around them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any hidden fees or subscriptions?

No. The price on a teacher's profile is the full price you pay — no subscriptions, no contact fees. Some teachers who are members of the GMMQ (Quebec Musicians' Guild) include a pension surcharge, but this is always included in the displayed price. You are only charged when a lesson is confirmed by your teacher.

Do you offer in-person lessons near me?

Yes — Musiprof primarily connects you with teachers near you for in-person lessons at home or in studio. Online lessons are also available. Beyond private lessons, we offer a band program and community recitals for a complete musical experience.

What happens after I purchase?

The teacher will contact you within 24–48 hours to schedule your first lesson. If there's no contact within that window, Musiprof follows up on your behalf.

What is the refund policy?

You only pay for lessons taken. We refund untaken lessons minus a small cancellation fee (the lesser of $50 or 10% of the remaining value).

How frequently do lessons unfold?

By default, lessons are designed to be taken once per week to help you maintain consistency and momentum. A 5-lesson package, for example, is intended to be completed in 5 consecutive weeks. However, we understand that every student's goals are unique. If your teacher agrees, lessons can be scheduled at a different frequency (e.g., every 2 weeks or once per month). Please discuss your preferred schedule with your teacher during your first contact. Your package includes a 30-day grace period after your last scheduled session. If you are doing bi-weekly lessons, ask your teacher to extend your session dates in the system to ensure your file remains active.

Is there a Satisfaction Guarantee?

Yes! We want you to find the perfect match. If your first session isn't right, contact us within 48 hours. We'll credit 50% of the lesson cost back to your account so you can try a different teacher immediately.

Why should I pay through Musiprof instead of paying my teacher directly?

Paying through Musiprof is what keeps you protected — the Satisfaction Guarantee, refunds, and dispute support only apply to payments made on the platform. Paying a teacher directly (cash, e-transfer) voids those protections, and we can't help if something goes wrong. If a teacher ever asks you to pay outside Musiprof, please let us know.

Is Musiprof like a music school with semesters?

No. Musiprof has no semesters, terms or registration deadlines. You start with a single first lesson, covered by our Satisfaction Guarantee. After that, you continue at your own pace: buy a package of lessons or pay lesson by lesson. Unused lessons are refundable, and you can switch teachers at any time.

Do I have to buy a package?

No. After your first lesson, you can buy a package (usually a better price per lesson) or pay à la carte, where your card is charged after each completed lesson. Each teacher sets their own prices and lesson formats (in studio, at home or online), so check their profile for the details.

More about drum lessons

We're in a Rosemont duplex — how do we handle drum noise?
An electronic kit with headphones is the standard answer, and it works: your child practises daily without a single complaint from downstairs. Teachers also set realistic practice windows and use pads for the loudest technique work.
What does a starter drum setup cost for a child?
Sticks and a practice pad come first and cost very little. A decent entry-level electronic kit follows once commitment is clear, and the used market in Montréal keeps that affordable. Your teacher will tell you exactly when the upgrade is worth it.
How close are lessons to métro Beaubien?
Very close — many teachers live within walking distance of métro Beaubien or Rosemont, and at-home lessons remove travel altogether. Most families here get to lessons on foot or by bike.
Is there a path from lessons to playing with other kids?
Yes. Once fundamentals are solid, teachers steer students toward playing with others, and Musiprof's band program exists for exactly that step. Drummers tend to be in demand whenever young musicians form a group.

The Musiprof Community

Many of our drum instructors in Montreal also coach our Band Program. When you learn with us, you're not just getting a teacher; you're joining a local network of musicians.
