With over 15 years of experience playing the drums and over 5 years of teaching experience, Theodore is a talented and versatile drummer who is equally passionate about passing on his knowledge and skills to others. He has performed at some of the biggest festivals in the US, such as SXSW, Bonnaroo, Summerfest, Shaky Knees, and JUNOfest, and has played in a big band ensemble for the musical “Some Like it Hot” at the prestigious Pallas Theatre in Athens, Greece. He is also an active member of the Montreal-based electro-pop band OF Course, which is signed by Coyote Records, and has toured with renowned artists Katerine Duska and Leon of Athens. Theodore is well-educated, having completed an intensive two-year professional program at MMS Athens and studied Jazz Performance at McGill University under the tutelage of great musicians and drummers like John Hollenbeck and Dave Laing. Theodore has a diverse cultural background, growing up in Canada and living in Europe for 15 years. This broad cultural exposure has shaped his musical style and approach to teaching. In his lessons, Theodore is dedicated to reminding students of the importance of having fun, experimenting to find their unique voice on the instrument and make each lesson an enjoyable and rewarding experience. He believes that every student has their own unique style and approach to playing the drums, and his lessons are tailored to each individual's needs and goals.
The lessons vary based on the goals and the level of experience the student has. Teaching from beginner to advanced, lessons are catered to each student’s needs and focus on how to accomplish finding their own voice and identity. My objective is to create a supportive educational environment that combines structure and enjoyment, resulting in a fulfilling experience. What you will learn in my classes: - Basic fundamentals, vocabulary, rudiments and how to apply them on the drum kit. - Pop, Rock, Funk, Hip-Hop, R&B, Jazz, Ethnic and Latin genres - Sight reading, how to write drum parts on music staff, road maps for learning song structures easily and ear training exercises. - Tuning - Audition preparation (academic material for Mcgill and Concordia applications) - Roland SPD-SX (and other electronic drum pads) tutorial and incorporating electronic elements on the drum kit - Play time with bassist and pianist
