At 15, Cédric discovered The Beatles and began his self-taught journey on the guitar. After a year, his band won the audience favorite award at his school talent show and was hired to perform for the teachers' cocktail. He devoured the major hits of the British Invasion and continued listening to music by decade. His obsession with improvisation led him to pursue music studies. In 2018, he received an excellence scholarship for the Jazz/Pop music program in Rimouski. During his time there, he performed with various groups and participated in promotional shows with his professors. He then continued his studies at the University of Montreal. Since 2021, Cédric has accumulated experience both in teaching and on stage. He has collaborated multiple times with the Session de Salon collective, recorded his compositions at McGill's studio, performed at corporate events and weddings, and was hired as a musician on the "Joy" cruise of Norwegian Cruise Line. He joined the band Hansom Éli, recorded their first album, and performed it at the TD studio in Montreal. They proceeded to perform at the Montreal International Jazz Festival in 2026. With this background, Cédric now feels ready to embark on his own project and share the stage with the people he loves and those who have believed in him.
Cédric offers a pedagogical approach where music theory serves the purpose of playing, and autonomy is at the heart of learning. With personalized guidance, both young and older students will learn how to progress on their own. They will create a connection between theory and music through exercises focused on playing and improvisation. In my opinion, music is learned best when it inspires passion. That's why my lessons will always prioritize your expectations. We will approach technique, practical application, and theory based on your goals and interests, never the other way around. My expertise includes various musical styles: Pop, Rock, Blues, Jazz, Funk, Soul, and R&B. A typical lesson starts with two questions: • "What did you do this week in music?" • "Do you have any questions or suggestions?" From there, we can determine which topic to focus on for the week: learning a song, working on a technique, exploring concepts, or deepening theory. All of this will depend on each student's interests and objectives. Ultimately, my goal is to teach you how to become autonomous in your learning. As a self-taught musician myself, I believe this skill offers immense potential for growth.
