About

Annalise is a dedicated flute and piano teacher with a deep background in performance, research, and music education. She holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s of Music in Flute Performance from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and the Hartt School (University of Hartford), respectively—earning talent awards at both institutions. She is currently pursuing a PhD in musicology at the Université de Montréal. Her background in classical music is broad and well-rounded, with more acute specialties in the Baroque style—passed down from her undergraduate teacher, Christopher Krueger—and 20th-century French music. In particular, she has spent over a decade conducting extensive research on French composer André Jolivet—currently the focus of her doctoral dissertation—while performing much of his vast and challenging flute repertoire. In 2024, she had the honor of presenting her research on Jolivet at the Paris Conservatory, as part of an event commemorating the 50th year since the composer’s death. Annalise fell in love with teaching over ten years ago, and it has remained an important and cherished part of her life ever since. She offers a wealth of experience and insight as a flute teacher, working with students of all levels. Her extensive experience teaching piano—her first instrument since age four—carries students from beginner to early advanced levels, while providing them with a solid, meaningful, and lasting musical foundation.

What You'll Learn

I believe that music is a gift that keeps giving in our lives, and that gift is a little different for everyone. We all have our own personal connection to music and our own unique lives that are always changing, so what we want, need, and take away from music tends to be individual and fluid. That is why I take care to meet students in the moment—working with them as a team to help them succeed in their immediate goals—while helping them develop perspective and skills that will give them greater freedom and autonomy to shape their musical journey however they want in the future.
