**Master of Music, The Juilliard School Bachelor of Music, Peabody Conservatory of Music** S. Aaron Wong is a cellist and educator who combines extensive professional experience in performance, teaching, and arts administration to inform his cello pedagogy. Part of the first cohort of junior students at the Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts, he further honed his craft under Stephen Kates at Peabody and Zara Nelsova at Juilliard, all on full scholarship. His performance credits include appearances at Lincoln Center, Suntory Hall, Glenn Gould Studio, and George Weston Recital Hall, as well as the Bermuda Festival of the Performing Arts and Huntsville Festival of the Arts. This rigorous training underpins his **commitment to healthy practice habits and performance mentality**. With over twenty years of experience in arts management at the Orchestra of St. Luke's, ICM Artists, and the University of Toronto Faculty of Music, Aaron brings **invaluable insights into artistic development to his teaching**. His unique educational journey, which includes graduate studies in religion at Yale University and Boston University, where he taught courses during and post-pandemic, further enriches his **skills in online and alternative teaching methods**. Aaron has coached chamber music and youth orchestras in Hong Kong and Canada. He enjoys a growing studio of cello students of **all ages and levels in person and via Zoom**. Aaron teaches in English and Cantonese and can converse in Mandarin Chinese.
Every person learns at a different pace and in various ways. As a teacher, I’m committed to a **personalized approach**: setting achievable goals and adapting methods to each student’s unique learning style, physicality, and musical aspirations. Specifically, I emphasize healthy practice habits to develop a strong foundation while preventing injuries. I encourage students to explore diverse repertoire and styles. My goal is to help students cultivate a lifelong love of music and empower them to communicate their musical ideas authentically and effectively. Whether you are eight or eighty-eight, fascinated by Bach or Hisaishi, contact me to discuss your cello goals today.
