About

Nurturing talents have been a huge part of my life since my high school years. As a trainer of the St. John Ambulance Club, I planned and delivered group training in various aspects, including developing lesson materials, designing case scenarios, and administering structured assessment, giving me great confidence and experience in deconstructing abstract concepts to a young audience. From 2019-2022, I taught after school tutorials, aiding children in their homework, and their exam preparation. I managed classes of 2-10, ensuring effective teaching and maintaining a disciplined environment, allowing students to focus, hence fostering learning. Since mid-2020, I started teaching violin. My students are varied in demographics, goals, and needs: some are pursuing graded exams, some are adults picking up the instrument for the first time in years, some are barely old enough to stand! I have taught private & group lessons, as well as extra-curricular lessons at a primary school. I always communicate with students (parents if applicable) about their goals, and tailor my lessons accordingly. Students get notes for practicing between lessons every time, to ensure the in-home practice sessions, and thus our lessons are effective. Seeing my students, especially children, growing from unable to focus during lessons, to reading the music they like completely on their own, and enjoying music is satisfying to me, and frankly why I teach.
