I have studied trumpet since a young age, I first started playing in elementary school bands. I was lucky enough to study with such renowned teachers as Rebecca Hennessy, Jason Logue, and Luise Heyerhoff. It was my experience with those teachers which turned my hobby into a lifelong passion. I studied music post secondary at the University of Toronto where I graduated in 2023 with a Bachelor of Music specializing in Jazz Performance. During those years I focused heavily on learning all about the jazz idiom, while also experimenting with RnB, Funk, and open improvisation. I also studied music production and sound design for film and video games. For my efforts in that field I graduated with a Certificate of Music Technology. I am an active member of the Toronto music scene, I have played in such places as the Rex Hotel and Jazz Bar, Drom Taberna, and TD Jazz Fest. Being a member of the music scene has led me to learn many different styles of music. Something I believe is an asset when catering lessons to each individual.
I believe learning an instrument is a fun and rewarding experience! Even though it can be a frusturating endeavour at times (especially the trumpet), practicing an instrument is a ritual which can help those both young and old develop in so many ways of life! During my lessons, I like to focus on technique before anything else. Making sure your body is in tune with this practise in the best way to ensure your mind can thrive while promoting healthy learning. I specialize in jazz though I am comfortable teaching those in the classical idiom as well, along with all sorts of Pop/RnB/Funk. Music is a joyous thing! learning a song from your favourite album or artist can be a great musical experience and help strenghthen your bond with your favourite music! I hope with my students that I could help them find their voice and joy within the music idiom! I wish to show them that music, whether practice, performance, or listening, should always be a joyous practise which will continue to strengthen the mind, body, and soul for as long as they continue to play!
