About

I graduated from the University of Toronto with a bachelors in Jazz Performance (Guitar Major) and from Grant Macewan University in Edmonton with a Diploma in Jazz Performance (Guitar Major) I like to let the student's needs and taste dictate lesson content. I encourage students to pick material they would like to learn, though I am always available to suggest material in necessary. Having students achieve individual, self-set goals is my top priority. I have decades of extensive experience performing and teaching music. As a seasoned performer, I am qualified to help students develop the time, sound and musicianship required to perform and style at any level. As an experienced teacher, I know how to adapt to each student's abilities and individual needs. In 2020 I received the OAC Chalmers Professional Development Grant for private study in the Netherlands with renowned Dutch guitarist Reinier Baas.

What You'll Learn

I help students achieve their own goals! I encourage students to bring in material and repertoire they would like to learn. I will introduce/clarify topics as they arise in the natural progression of lessons. Though I prefer students to bring in repertoire/song ideas, I am always available to recommend material/repertoire as needed. If I notice an area of the student's playing that needs work, I will assign appropriate exercises to address the problem. This is how I learned how to play music and I find it to be the most rewarding method and the best way to stay engaged long term.
