I have been working as a private voice instructor and professional opera singer for several years. I have had the pleasure of teaching voice to students of all ages and abilities. I am passionate about creating an inclusive, positive, and productive work environment for all my students, and I teach them the ability and importance of developing their technical skills in their private practice. I believe that all singers benefit from a foundation of classical technique and I strive to impart these technical skills to all my students. I do encourage students to study classical voice as, in my experience, it is the best way to develop the vocal instrument. However, if a student would like to learn other types of music, I am happy to help them with these other styles as well. I have experience teaching jazz, musical theatre, pop, and more, and I am able to apply technical principals learned from my classical voice studies to these other genres. My classical voice instruction can also include preparing students for RCM examinations in voice and theory. Additionally, I have performed professionally in a number of operas and concerts all over the world which has developed my performance skills in a number of different areas. I draw upon these experiences in my lessons to help my students become well-rounded performers. First and foremost, I am able to understand how to improve and communicate principals of vocal technique. I also teach excellent pronunciation in multiple languages (including French, German, Italian, and English), allowing students to access a wide variety of repertoire and compositional styles. I also emphasize the importance of developing a connection to the text of each piece to help students develop their ability to act and embody different characters well.
