Simon C. — Clarinet Teacher — Centre-Sud, Montreal

Graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels in drawing in 2015 Graduated with a DEC in Jazz/Pop (clarinet) in 2024 I first explored the clarinet through jams in Montreal. I immediately fell in love with the instrument. Afterwards, I wanted to go further in my learning. I've always loved jazz music, so I enrolled at the Nantes Conservatory in a Jazz program. Then, to deepen my knowledge, I decided to pursue a DEC Jazz/Pop in Rimouski. I've been teaching clarinet lessons for two years now. My musical world is centered around jazz, but I've also explored Eastern European music (such as klezmer) and Latin American music (choro, forro). Always with the goal of learning and improving my skills, I took music lessons with Margot Leverett at a Klezmer music camp. Currently, I regularly perform in duos/trios or ensembles, playing world music in Quebec.

--- Clarinet Lessons in a "Douce ambiance" --- I offer clarinet lessons for all levels and ages. We will take the time to explore this magnificent instrument through different repertoires and horizons like: Klezmer, Balkan, Musette Waltz, Brazilian Music, Jazz, Gypsy Jazz, Traditional Music, etc. If you have any pieces you absolutely want to learn, please let me know. We will approach the technique related to the instrument, such as arpeggios, scales, and articulations, according to the student's wishes and needs. We will do exercises to work on sound and pitch, including improvisation, reading (rhythmic and melodic), and learning melodies by ear! The goal of this class is to help us grow musically. I will adapt to each student's needs, gradually allowing the student's musical sensitivity to develop.
