Seuss F. — Saxophone Teacher — Verdun, Montreal

Seuss Fu-Rubin has been establishing himself in the Montreal music scene for two years since coming from New York and starting at McGill in 2019, post-pandemic. Since graduating LaGuardia High School and playing shows around New York, Seuss has taken his abilities and really put himself in all sorts of situations, becoming integrated in the Hip Hop, Jazz, Folk and Modernist scenes since arriving, as well graduating with a Bachelors in Jazz Saxophone from McGill in 2023. Seuss has had the fortune of recording and releasing multiple singles, EP’s and full length albums as well as performing in some of the most esteemed festivals and stages such as Montreal Jazz Fest and Fringe Fest, alongside some of the most esteemed musicians and artists Montreal has to offer including Maxime Racicot, LTeez, Growve, and the McGill Big Band. More recently, Seuss just finished a world tour playing Afro-Beat music with a group based out of Guinea where he played some of the most prestigious stages in the world including The Queen Elizabeth Hall (London), Assembly Hall (Scotland), Harpa Hall (Iceland), The Dome (Brighton UK) amongst others all over the world. While still developing with a hunger to improve his craft, Doc Seuss has made a decent name for himself and continues to stay busy, being invited to play all sorts of gigs with no end in sight. He has absolutely dedicated himself to his art and continues to impact and push the envelope of music in Montreal.

I hope combine simple exercises while being attentive to the student’s individual needs with a goal of making it fun and enjoyable. With a focus on instrumental technique and improvisation, I aim to use my versatility to cater to whatever the student hopes to learn while also pushing them to find their voice and musical identity. Music is fun and the lessons I provide will ensure that curiosity and desire remains.
