Matthew is a woodwind doubler in Montreal’s music scene who specializes in Rock, Pop, Theatre, Funk, Jazz, Blues and Classical music. Capable of playing Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bari Saxophones, Flute, Piccolo, Clarinet and Bass Clarinet, Matthew has performed for theatre productions such as Kimberly Akimbo, Beautiful (Segal Center), Les Producteurs (Gestev), Timeless Broadway, Broadway Dreams, Our Time (Lyric Theatre), Grease, Mary Poppins, Jersey Boys (Thousand Islands Playhouse), Sound Of Music (Côte St-Luc Dramatic Society), Guys And Dolls (Lakeshore Players), Beauty and The Beast (MCT), The Prom, Into The Woods Jr. (Royal West Academy), Curtains (Starcatcher) and 9to5 (WISTA). As a freelance musician, Matthew has toured across Canada and the United Sates with groups such as Disco Fever Experience, The Last Of The Duke Street Kings and Downtown Fiasco in addition to recording and arranging brass for a ska-punk parody that charted #5 for comedy on Billboards.
My goal is to help you find your voice and your path in music. I want to help you play your instrument to your fullest potential so that you can achieve your music goals. I believe that learning is improved when topics are tailored to the students interests and I make sure to use my students interests to keep them engaged in learning while also teaching them the important fundamentals of the instrument. To do this, I focus on these aspects: Working on technique and theory Experimenting with ideas on the instrument in a creative way – Learning music YOU are interested in Have fun making music
