Leo C. — Saxophone Teacher — Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Montreal

Leo Codiga is a saxophonist raised in Boston and based in Montreal. Now an experienced professional, he is an alumnus of the Schulich School of Music at McGill University, where he earned the distinction of Outstanding Achievement in Jazz Saxophone. Codiga maintains an active performance schedule and is a proud participant in the Montreal music scene. He is also an award-winning composer, having won the Young Composer’s Prize at the 2024 ODD Sound Jazz Festival, a collaboration between Montreal labels ODD Sound and Effendi Records. Most recently, his composition “Pumpkinseed” was selected for performance in the Young Composers Showcase at the 2026 edition of the JEN Conference in New Orleans. Codiga is currently working on his first recording as the leader of the Southwest Corridor, one of Montreal’s most exciting young groups. The band featured at TU Jazz Fest 2024 in Toronto and won the Small Ensemble category in the 2025 edition of Downbeat Magazine’s Student Music Awards.

I aim to help students discover and nurture their musical potential regardless of genre or level. I can guide the development of saxophone sound and technique, and I teach broader concepts including music theory, improvisation, and composition. I look forward to giving students the tools to express themselves through music!
