I started teaching while pursuing my master’s studies in opera performance at the University of British Columbia in 2015. Since then, I have taught a diverse group of students, including children and adults, all at different starting levels and musical backgrounds. My teaching always emphasizes classical fundamentals which I believe inform all genres of vocal performance, but I always adapt to each student, helping them work on vocal repertoire that inspires them and that they are interested in performing. I have had students that have focused solely on classical voice training, while others had a passion for musical theatre, pop, jazz, and blues. In all of these styles, I have always been able to find repertoire that both my students have been interested in, but also appropriate songs that will help them develop and improve their vocal technique. Usually my lessons are split with 50% technique/exercises and 50% on repertoire.
