I started playing music at the age of 11. I was introduced to the electric bass at 14, which is when I began composing and performing in public. I later completed my studies in Pop Performance (DEC) at Collège Lionel-Groulx. I have been professionally active on the Quebec music scene for about ten years, accompanying dozens of established and emerging artists. I am also a composer and beat maker.
My method is focused first and foremost on studying the giants of music. I believe it is essential for a bassist to understand the role and evolution of the bass throughout history. Transcribing, then playing in that style, and finally, finding your own sound. I incorporate rigorous metronome exercises into the lessons to strengthen your internal sense of time. I also teach and encourage reading music and chord symbols, with the goal of creating your own charts for reference. My intention is to guide you toward greater freedom on the bass by developing a solid internal rhythm and a harmonic understanding of the fretboard. I enjoy accompanying the student with other instruments (piano, guitar, drum machines) to truly demonstrate the role of the instrument within a band context. It would be my pleasure to help you develop the qualities that will make you a more versatile and confident bassist.
