French and Australian guitar player based in Montreal, QC. I teach electric and acoustic guitar, and specialize in jazz while also delving into the rock, blues and fingerstyle genres. Trained in jazz at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, I have been a part of many jazz bands and small ensembles performing regularly in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In addition to leading a rock band in high school, I was a contracted musician at St Kate the Arts Hotel in downtown Milwaukee in a jazz duo setting. Although I currently study biology and neuroscience at McGill, I like to attend jazz jam sessions and continue to teach guitar. I have been playing for 16 years and teaching for five years, and continue to enjoy making an impact on students' knowledge of the instrument.
I believe that lessons should be tailored to the specific goals of students. During our first lesson, we will establish short-term goals (learning a song, scale, technique) and long-term goals (becoming fluent in jazz soloing, being able to play in a band, etc.), and work towards these in a fun, engaging way. A typical lesson with me would involve working on a song, riff or concept proposed by the student and naturally delving into essential topics related to the acquisition of this goal to make them a better guitar player. I teach beginner to intermediate-level students, and am most well-versed in jazz and music theory, having a strong basis in rock, blues and fingerstyle. Sparking curiosity about the various aspects of the instrument is key -- bringing together topics that are essential to guitar playing and tying those to the students' interests are important in achieving just that.
