Education

  • Studies in Jazz Performance (Bass), Mohawk College

About

Eric Trimmer is a multi-instrumentalist from Hamilton, Ontario. He began studying classical guitar and playing bass in his school band at the age of twelve. By sixteen Eric began performing in theatres, weddings, and local clubs across the Greater Toronto area. He studied Jazz Performance and bass at Mohawk College. After college, Eric continued performing and started teaching music. Eric has been a music teacher for 20 years. Some of his students have continued their studies at the college and university level, and are working musicians. His lessons are highly adaptive to the goals of each student. Whether your goal is to become a professional musician, create your own music, or just have fun learning an instrument; Eric can help you achieve your goals.

What You'll Learn

My music classes are high individualized, depending on the student. I like to find out what their goals are and what their taste in music is. From there, I formulate what path to take the student down. I find this method works the best for keeping the student interested and engaged in lessons. My goal is to help the student in their own musical journey. No matter what the student’s path is, we always touch on some common topics. Rythym, harmony, melody, technique, theory, reading music/tab/chord symbols, musicality, ear training, etc.
