Alex R D. — Trumpet Teacher — Chomedey, Laval

Alex, a trumpeter and educator, began his musical journey at Collège Lionel Groulx, where he earned his diploma in classical trumpet in Jocelyn Lapointe's class in 2021. During his studies, he had the opportunity to perform at numerous jazz festivals as 2nd trumpet in the Collège Lionel Groulx jazz orchestra, directed by the talented saxophonist François D'amour. Since 2022, he has also had the privilege of playing 2nd trumpet with the Orchestre symphonique de l'Isle under the direction of its new conductor, Hubert Tanguay Labrosse. His musical path also took him to the American East Coast in 2017, where he participated in a Drum Corps tour, refining his skills in drum and bugle corps performance. Alongside his passion for performing, Alex shares his knowledge by teaching private trumpet lessons, a rewarding experience that is particularly close to his heart. He firmly believes in the importance of passing on musical knowledge through personalized lessons tailored to the needs and levels of each student. His passion for teaching includes the pedagogy of Robert Pichaureau, which he continues to share with his students. Equipped with a Bachelor's degree in classical trumpet from the class of Thierry Champs, which he will complete in April 2024, Alex plans to pursue a Master's degree in classical trumpet in the fall of 2024. His choice to join Trent Sanheim's class reflects his earnest desire to deepen his skills under the guidance of a mentor who studied with the greatest orchestral musicians in the United States. Alex aspires to explore new repertoire and continue pushing his boundaries.
