Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Performance (Flute), McGill University (2024)
  • Diplôme d’Études Musicales (DEM), Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Rouen

About

A recent graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Performance (Flute) from McGill University (Winter 2024), Adèle began playing the flute at a young age. She pursued classical music studies at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional in Rouen, France, until the end of high school, where she earned her Diplôme d'Études Musicales. After a period of study in social sciences, she returned to music through the path of improvisation and jazz. This musical renewal significantly redirected her career. Active on the Montreal and Canadian scenes for several years, she draws great inspiration from Brazilian music and modern jazz. This fusion of eclectic influences colors her playing, improvisation, and composition. Active within several jazz ensembles as both a performer and composer, Adèle also collaborates with artists in jazz, hip-hop, and Latin music, distinguishing herself on the Montreal scene as a flutist, and occasionally as a saxophonist and vocalist. She has collaborated with several renowned artists on the jazz scene (Jeanne Laforest, Levi Dover, Rodrigo Simoes) and has performed at various festivals and jazz clubs across Canada and Europe, both with her own projects and as a side musician.

What You'll Learn

Building confidence and valuing the student's work are essential to ensuring lasting and enjoyable learning. I prioritize friendly lessons tailored to the needs and pace of each student. Effective work depends on motivation, which is found in the joy of playing and coming together to make music. Learning the flute requires technical practice and is reinforced through the study of repertoire. - Instrument position and technique (embouchure, breathing and air support, finger placement) - Interpretation of various repertoires: classical, modern, jazz, Latin, pop - Improvisation techniques - Music theory Each lesson should be an enjoyable and stimulating experience. We want to develop playfulness, confidence, and the desire to return to the instrument again and again!
