I began my university studies in Strasbourg, where I obtained a diploma in cello teaching and a Bachelor's degree in cello and musicology from the Haute École des Arts du Rhin. I then completed a Master's degree in Performance at the University of Montreal, before specializing in instrumental pedagogy in Stuttgart, Germany. I am now back in Montreal, pursuing a PhD in cello performance. Alongside my academic studies, I have taught cello to students of all ages and levels, as well as leading string ensembles and teaching music theory at various institutions in France, Canada, and Germany. Committed to making music education accessible to everyone, I have taught in a socially oriented orchestra and organized workshops in schools. As a performer in ensembles of various sizes—including chamber music groups, orchestras, and contemporary music ensembles—I also develop transdisciplinary projects that combine different art forms.
As a passionate teacher, I am constantly deepening my knowledge of the essential aspects of teaching the cello, such as body posture, choosing the right words and images to guide students, and adapting exercises to suit their age, level and personality. I take a balanced approach to teaching, focusing on developing technique and musicality while listening to my students' wishes and needs (e.g. exercises, repertoire choice, lesson organisation). A key aspect of my pedagogy is to help students developping their independence in practice and their musical personality through reflective teaching that centres on the pleasure of playing.
