Eric Dubé is a young, up and coming trombonist, composer, and arranger based in Montreal. His passion for music holds no restriction when it comes to genre, but big band jazz has always been at the core. Having toured across Europe and Canada, he has had the chance to play with many iconic artists and bands of the Québec music scene, including the Joe Sullivan Big Band, the Ben Deschamps Big Band, Justin Boulet, Breen Leboeuf, David Jalbert, and many more. He has also had the privilege of sharing the stage with world renown jazz musicians such as Dave Holland and Elliot Mason. Additionally, he frequents the Montreal music scene as the recurring trombone player of Dumai Dunai, Dusty Brass Band and Yzabo’s band. Currently, Eric composes and arranges for his own big band project with plans of releasing an album in the near future.
I believe that music is a language, a universal form of expression. I aim to create an engaging and supportive environment where students can explore, experiment, and communicate through music. They will learn not only to read, write, and speak (play) music, but also to understand what it is they are actually saying. By understanding music as a language, students can develop the ability to listen, interpret, and express themselves with confidence. Topics can include technique, sound quality, reading, improvisation, musicality and following musical context.
