Violin Lessons:

Level:  beginner, intermediate, advanced

I primarily teach classical violin with a large focus on:

  • technique, intertwined with music theory
  • solfeggio (for ear training and development) 
  • music history (for general knowledge of composers, dates and understanding of various classical music periods) 

 

 

Education and Experience:

Sofia Yatsyuk began playing the violin at the Ternopil School of Music in Ukraine at the age of six. She was accepted to the Purcell School of Music in London, U.K. and awarded a full scholarship funded by the Government’s Music and Dance Scheme. Sofia completed her Bachelor’s degree at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Professor Mateja Marinkovich and her Master’s degree at the Schulich School of Music with Professor Axel Strauss in Montreal. She made her orchestral debut with the Ternopil Symphony Orchestra in 2014 and recently performed Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No.1 with the Lakeshore Symphony Orchestra in Canada. Sofia has given solo and chamber music performances in Ukraine, Italy, Slovenia, Poland, China, Canada, France and the UK, including a concert at Giuseppe Tartini’s house in Piran and the Parliament building in Westminster, London.  She held a teaching position at LRMS (London Russian Music School) in  London working as a chamber music/orchestral coach, solfeggio teacher and one to one violin teacher. Over the last two years Sofia was the winner of the Maruisa Yaworska Scholarship Award, winner of the Kathleen Trust Award and recipient of the Heinz Saueressig Scholarship for Academic Excellency. She is currently the Principal Violinist of the Sinfonia of the West Island and a member of Orchestre Nouvelle Generation in Montreal.

Sherbrooke Street East, Mont Royal Street, Laurier Street, Saint- Laurent avenue, Place des Arts area.

* an additional 5$/per lesson add-on is charged for transportation.
