I customize my teaching to each student, and am open to whatever they want to learn. I usually find that the basic building blocks of music need to be strengthened, like general technique and theory.

I have 16 albums out under my own name, 7 of which have been nominated for a Juno Award 7 times,including 2020. I have played at most of the top NYC jazz clubs and have toured across a few continents with various bands, and completed a dozen Canadian tours featuring my own original music.
I have a Master of Music degree in composition from the University of British Columbia, and a Bachelor of Music in piano performance from McGill. I taught jazz and jazz ensemble for several years at Cornell University and Ithaca College.
After moving to Vancouver 3 years ago, I have done extensive teaching at the VSO School of Music and led a course on Improvisation at UBC.
