Arnaud C. — Professeur de saxophone — Ville-Marie, Montréal

I am a multi-instrumentalist from Montreal and a graduate of the Schulich School of Music at McGill University (Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance), where I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Jazz Performance. My many years of experience as a saxophonist, flutist, and clarinetist on the Quebec music scene have allowed me to master several styles (hip-hop, pop, classical music) in addition to jazz, which is my specialty. I regularly compose and perform with the jazz-rap group Original Gros Bonnet, which I co-founded with six musicians in 2015 during my jazz studies at Cégep de Saint-Laurent. Since the summer of 2023, I have been leading my own jazz ensemble, the Arnaud Castonguay Quintet, which will release an album of my original compositions in the fall of 2024. My six years of teaching experience—particularly the last two years spent as a teacher of jazz and classical saxophone, jazz ensemble director, and jazz composition instructor at Collège Notre-Dame du Sacré-Coeur (a high school in Montreal)—have allowed me to refine my teaching skills and develop a methodology that is highly valued by my students.
