What equipment do I need for my drum lessons?
There are only 3 things you need before your first drum lesson: a pair of drum sticks, a pen and notebook, and a smile!
The teacher will provide the drum set unless you have signed up for home lessons.
In general, it is a good idea for students to have a drum set at home for practise, but it is not required.
Is it better to learn on electronic or acoustic drums?
It is best to learn on acoustic drums, as the student learns to understand “touch” and extract the sound from the instrument.
That being said, a lot of people simply can’t have an instrument as loud as an acoustic drum set in their home.
In these cases, an electronic drum set is the solution. Electronic drums are a lot of fun and offer a quieter alternative to an acoustic kit.

Do online drum lessons work well?
Most of our teachers have been offering online drum lessons since the pandemic. In order for online drum lessons to work well, you need to make sure you are well equipped.
You will need a high speed internet connection, a laptop with a webcam and a microphone to properly control the drum set volume.
If you have an electronic drum kit, it is possible to plug it directly into a computer with USB. This will allow you to easily adjust the volume.
*Studying drumming technique with a practice pad is more easily done online.

Which drumsticks should I buy for my drum lessons?
Vic Firth 5A drum sticks are the most widely used sticks and work very well for most styles of music.
